Díaz's Homer Completes 8-Run Fourth Inning, Rays Beat Twins 9-4
A Detailed Recap of the Game
Tampa Bay's Bats Come Alive in the Fourth
Randy Arozarena led off the inning with a single, and Yandy Díaz followed with a two-run homer to give the Rays an early 2-0 lead. Ji-Man Choi singled, and Isaac Paredes walked to load the bases. Vidal Bruján singled in two more runs, and Manuel Margot's double made it 6-0.
After a walk to Arozarena, Díaz hit his second homer of the inning, a two-run shot that gave the Rays an 8-0 lead.
The Twins finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Jose Miranda hit a solo homer off Rays starter Drew Rasmussen. But the Rays added another run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Díaz, making it 9-1.
Twins Rally But Fall Short
The Twins rallied in the eighth inning, scoring three runs on a fielder's choice by Nick Gordon, an RBI single by Gio Urshela, and a sacrifice fly by Gilberto Celestino. But the Rays bullpen held on for the 9-4 victory.
Díaz's Impressive Performance
Díaz's two homers and four RBIs led the Rays' offensive attack. He is now hitting .333 with seven homers and 25 RBIs this season.
Díaz's second homer was a no-doubt blast that traveled 423 feet and left the bat at 100.9 mph.
Rasmussen's Strong Start
Rasmussen allowed just one run on three hits over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven batters and walked two.
Rasmussen is now 3-0 with a 2.02 ERA this season.
